CLUB EVENTS

The August club meeting is on Saturday, 30th August 2008 in the Muckross House Coffee Shop, Muckross, Killarney, Co. Kerry at 10am.  Muckross House is located on the main Killarney-Kenmare Road approx. 5km from the centre of Killarney Town. 

The August club meeting is on Saturday, 27th September and the October meeting is on Saturday 25th October.

The International Lighthouse/Lightship weekend takes place on the 16th and 17th of August, 2008.  The club plans to operate once again from the Cromwell Point Lighthouse (IRE-077), Valentia Island, Co. Kerry for the weekend.

The next six metre SSB net is on Monday, 4th August (Bank Holiday Monday) on 50.135MHz at 8pm local time.  This net meets year-round and is a good opportunity to increase your squares count. All are welcome to participate.

A good six metre dx cluster is the SM6SE DX CLUSTER. And also remember that the UK Six Metre Group has an excellent web site dedicated totally to the six metre band.

CLUB NEWS

Preparations are under way for the club’s annual participation in International Lighthouse/Lightship Weekend.  EI2JP has submitted the request to the Commissioners of Irish Lights for use of the Cromwell Point Lighthouse (IRE-077) on the weekend of August 16 & 17th.

The lighthouse keeper’s accommodation is being renovated by the Irish Landmark Trust, so this may be one of the last years that we can use this lighthouse for what has become an annual activity.  More info on the renovation can be found here.

As usual we expect to congregate on the Friday (15th this year) to set up and generally “ease into” the weekend..

Subscriptions for the 2007-2008 year are now due. Annual membership is €30 and can be paid to any committee member (but be sure to get a receipt from EI2JP!). The membership list has been updated as of 2008-06-13.

EI2JP has received the HF bandpass filter order from Array Solutions.  Many thanks to all the club members who donated to this cause.  We now have single-band bandpass filters for 160, 80, 40, 30, 20, 17, 15, 12 and 10 metres.
